Application swimming pool hose - solar hose
Swimming pool hose
The swimming pool hose is not suitable for use as a suction or pressure hose.
So why is it used as a suction and pressure hose in every DIY store? - It is lighter, has a stable effect due to its ribbed structure and is cheaper.
The strong ribbing, which makes the floating property of the hose possible in the first place, leads to strong turbulence and increased abrasiveness due to the medium flowing through. This results in a loss of performance for your pump and increased power consumption. This increased friction puts pressure on the hose, which can lead to the formation of holes.
Solar hose
The solar hose is black and heavily ribbed like the conventional swimming pool hose. This enables faster heat absorption.
A reduced flow rate is ideal, so that the medium flows more slowly, can heat up more quickly and the abrasive properties of the hose structure are not as noticeable as with a fast-flowing medium.
However, constant circulation in sunlight is essential so that the hose does not overheat and become damaged.
This means that if the hose lies directly on a roof - possibly a sheet metal roof or with a black surface - temperatures above the maximum operating point are quickly reached. If there is a slight negative pressure, the areas of the molded sleeves are most likely to collapse.
Please take this into account during installation and ensure constant circulation when exposed to heat.
Solar hose is usually made of EVA or HD-PE. The maximum operating temperatures that can be reliably specified are generally +60°C. Constant circulation should be guaranteed from approx. 30°C.
